It is definitely not obvious at first glance that these two cars come from the same stable. Visually, the two vehicles have little in common, especially as the Fiat Ritmo is a hatchback saloon and the X 1/9 is a two-seater sports car.
If you take a closer look at the technology, you will find more similarities. After all, it is the same 1.5-liter engine that powers both cars. However, in the Ritmo it is located at the front and sends its 75 hp to the front wheels, while in the X 1/9 "Five Speed" it is also installed transversely, but there it has 85 hp and drives the rear axle. It is therefore not surprising that both cars sound similar.
Various other technical parts were also shared, as were many equipment elements, such as the switches for the lights or the rear window heating. In any case, a Ritmo driver immediately feels at home in the X 1/9, and vice versa. However, there were probably only a few fans who owned both, the user profiles were too different.
We dedicated a detailed report to the Fiat X 1/9 around a year ago (which is also printed in the 2020 annual magazine ), and we will be putting our driving impressions of the Ritmo 75 CL on paper (or HTML) in the coming weeks. This much can already be said, we also had a lot of fun in the Ritmo!
