The best classic car event of 2018 took place in the UK
The year 2018 was once again characterized by many top-class events that are actually difficult to compare. Nevertheless, we asked our readers to compare nine classic car events with an international appeal as part of a" question of the week" and to state their preference.
The result was surprising, as it was not one of the major German public events that came out on top, but the Goodwood Revival in Chichester, UK, organized by Lord March, which received 27.1 percent of the votes.
Classic Days Schloss Dyck took second place with 10 percent of the votes.
Stuttgart's Retro Classics and the French event Le Mans Classic came in joint third place.
Fifth place went to the AVD Oldtimer Grand Prix and sixth place to the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, a rather intimate beauty contest in northern Italy.
This was followed by the Techno Classica Essen and the Rétromobile Paris.
It should be said, however, that a fifth of the participants did not want to name any of the proposed classic car events as the best because they had another one in mind. What's more, the turnout was relatively low, with only 140 participants over the course of the festival. Apples are not so easy to compare with pears, and this will probably have bothered one or two readers.
