DKW Monza - popular plastic racer and world record chaser of the fifties

The public saw the DKW "Monza" for the first time at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show, although it was not yet called the "Monza" but the "DKW-based sports coupé". The attractive little car was exhibited on the Dannenhauer and Stauss stand and had a hard time - at the same time, BMW presented its "507", which immediately became the superstar of the event with its ravishing lines, pushing all the other exhibits into the background. Although it is not a dazzling beauty, its flowing and somewhat rounded forms arouse sympathy in every observer. From the diagonal rear, it bears a striking resemblance to the 300 SL Gullwing - revealing which car its fathers dreamed of. Its fathers - Messrs Ahrens, Dannenhauer and Stauss.
