Bruno Spengler took the DTM crown in his first year for BMW in 2012, after seven years and two runner-up titles at Mercedes.
It is just before Christmas and the two remaining manufacturers in the championship, BMW and Audi, are already testing their new cars for the coming season in Jerez in Spain, which is still warm. Four-cylinder, two-liter turbo engines will be used in 2019. The cars have around 100 hp more power under the hood. But tests always involve waiting times until the cars have been rebuilt in order to test all their possibilities and improve their performance.
