Classic of the decade - 911 versus Miura (Question of the week)
The second decade of the 21st century will soon be coming to an end. A good time to look back. Which classic stood out in this decade? Which one was particularly successful?
We had pre-selected nine classics and readers were now able to choose their favorite as part of the " Question of the Week " and select the car that they felt was most significant between 2011 and 2020.
Not entirely unexpectedly, not all of the more than 340 respondents were satisfied with the shortlist, with 21.1 percent saying that their favorite was not on the list.
However, the remaining 78.9 percent opted for one of the nine proposed classics and the race soon had two favorites, namely the Porsche 911 and the Lamborghini Miura. The rear-engined classic from Zuffenhausen ultimately came out on top with 19.6 percent, but after all, it has been built for almost 60 years, while the Miura, which received 15.2 percent of the votes, was only built for just over a sixth of that time.
The other classics had to be content with single-digit percentages. Third place went to the Ford Mustang, fourth place to the Ferrari 250 GTO and fifth place to the Mazda MX5. In 6th place was the VW Beetle, followed by the Aston Martin DB5 and the Bugatti Type 35, which still left the McLaren F1 behind.
This is actually a nice ranking and the fact that the Mazda left the Bond car DB5 behind is actually a pleasant surprise.
