The background can sometimes be more interesting ...

Three pictures of this Maserati 8CM were taken on the occasion of the first Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix in 1986, which was still held behind the iron curtain on the Hungaroring near Budapest. The pictures then lay dormant in our photo archive for 34 years.
It was only a few days ago that I came across the negatives and immediately knew exactly who owned this car today. I also noticed an Enzmann in the background and wondered how this car, which is known to have been built in Switzerland in the late 1950s, had found its way to the East.
The owner of the Maserati was able to solve this mystery. The Enzmann 506 with the starting number 84, which can be seen in the background of the picture, belongs or belonged to Jenö Varga. And these are the memories I was told:
"When I first saw the Maserati in Hungary in December 2006, the Enzmann 506 was still in Varga's collection. Allegedly, he bought the car from a German tourist when she was stranded in Budapest with a major engine problem. At the time of the visit (2006), the Enzmann 506 was still equipped with a Porsche engine."
In this way, historical pictures become extremely interesting contemporary witnesses and it is not always just the main object that is of interest.
Of course, it would be interesting to know where the Enzmann is today ...
