In the 1950s and 1960s, Bill Devin built both complete cars and polyester bodies that could be mounted on various chassis. One successful combination was the open top on the Triumph TR2/TR3 chassis, reminiscent of an Ermini or Ferrari 500 Monza. Bill Devin was born in Rocky, Oklahoma in 1915. Henry Manney once described him as the "Enzo Ferrari of the Okie Flats". Bill's father had an auto repair shop and later a Chevrolet garage, and the curious Bill was involved with cars long before his father put him to work. Bill Devin began building cars early in his life, but he was also a successful race car driver.
