Vintage car exchange wanted (question of the week)
03/02/2020
From time to time, classic car owners come to the realization that they want a change. They would like to have a different car, are looking for a new challenge. Perhaps their current classic/youngtimer is no longer comfortable enough or they lack flexibility of use.
In most cases, the existing classic car has to be sold before you start looking for a new classic/youngtimer.
Does that have to be the case? Would it be interesting to use an exchange market to swap your old car for another vehicle of a similar price? This is what we wanted to know in our "Question of the week" .
In fact, more than half of the 317 respondents - 63.7% to be precise - were in favor of a car swap. Of these, however, more than half (36.6% in absolute terms) were skeptical as to whether it would be possible to bring two people together who would really be willing to trade. The remaining 27.1 percent (in absolute terms), however, thought the ideas were definitely worth pursuing.
32.2 percent do not believe that such an exchange could work. Differences in values, processing problems, etc. would make a transaction difficult or impossible in their eyes.
And, for the sake of completeness, 4.1 percent did not find any of the answers convincing.
An exchange market would therefore certainly have a chance and would also arouse interest, but only a practical test would be able to show whether it would work. Incidentally, anyone who offers a car on this platform today can of course suggest a swap with a specific car in the text. However, there is no search function that allows you to enter an offer and a request at the same time, so to speak, and then find advertisements that would cover both.
Here is the graphical evaluation of the last question of the week:
Of course, the next question of the week has already been formulated. This time we want to know what, from today's perspective, represents the greatest threat to the survival of the classic car .
And, of course, you can still look up previous "Questions of the Week" in the dedicated topic channel .
