Well, the headline isn't quite right, it wasn't the driving school that resembled a folk festival, but the takeover of a driving school car.
The caption in the 1950 AR edition read: "Traffic and driving lessons in American schools: an AAA car with double brakes and clutch is put into operation for driving lessons in a school".
Nevertheless, it would be hard to imagine today that a driving school car would cause such a stir.
