Preferably both - technically sophisticated and beautiful (question of the week)
11/07/2022
The ratio of visual and technical brilliance was rarely balanced in automobiles. The Citroën DS was a perfectly shaped sculpture, but the gruff engine thwarted perfection. With the Lancia Fulvia, it was the other way around: the filigree technology was at its finest, but the comparatively bland saloon body was not quite on a par with its noble origins. But there are exceptions: The Citroën 2CV is neither sophisticated under nor above the sheet metal, which admittedly did not detract from its popularity. Conversely, the Lancia Aurelia was a work of art in terms of construction and design, which makes it even more of a collector's item today.
With many classic cars, however, the appeal of one part of the vehicle outweighs the other. That's why we wanted to ask our readers a " question of the week" : What is more important when buying a classic car? Technical sophistication or outward beauty?
The answers from the almost 400 survey participants clearly point in the direction of "both". 38.5 percent are not prepared to compromise. The classic must be both visually and technically fascinating.
Around 30.9 percent lean more towards looks and design with nuances, while 12.7 percent see technology/mechanics as a priority.
12.8 percent take a much more relaxed view of all this; the car simply has to be fun.
And 5.1 percent did not want to choose any of the given answer options.
Graphically, it looks like this:
We have already posed the next "question of the week" . It is: Do you buy car brand promotional items/clothing?
And of course the previous "Questions of the Week" , or rather the answers to them, can all still be read in the corresponding topic channel.
