What do Rolls-Royce and Skoda have in common?
Of course there are many similarities between Rolls-Royce and Skoda, as both companies have a long tradition as car manufacturers. However, we want to address something very special here that also connects the two brands: The "built-in" umbrella. Exactly.
We are aware that this is not a typical classic car theme, but rather a neo-classic or used car story. But since we are aiming to still be read in 10 and 20 years' time, let's take a little digression into the near-modern era.
The picture above shows a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé, or rather the "onboard" umbrella. Skoda has been practicing something similar for many years. In detail, however, the solutions look quite different. Of course, the Rolls-Royce umbrella is more elegant. And it is not housed in the door, but in the A-pillar, so to speak. Because the Phantom doors open to the rear, the umbrella is always ready to hand when you get out. In the Skoda, the umbrella is usually stored in the doors, i.e. in the back of the driver's door. So you're already a little wet by the time you get it out.
But the next problem comes when the wet umbrella is no longer needed. Rolls-Royce has found an elegant solution to this problem, as the sunshade is dried by warm air when not in use.
