The elk of Garching-Hochbrück

No, that's not the title of a new crime novel from the pen of Edgar Wallace. Although the road holding of the BMW M3 Sport Evolution in this photo does seem a bit criminal. So was BMW hiding something from us? Did the homologation model for the DTM tip over in the moose test seven years before the A-Class? Or was the M3 chassis simply far too soft for the grip of the racing tires, causing it to roll in normal corners like a Renault 5 on the Hockenheimring?
Nothing of the sort. The truth is much more harmless. A graphic designer from Auto Motor und Sport has simply had a bit of fun and retouched out the kerb over which the BMW is weaving. So even if the tipping M3 is not real, it undoubtedly makes a good lead picture for a comparison test. Especially when the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution 2 to the left of it also lifts its little leg.
