More and more collections are being auctioned
11/08/2022
Many entire collections had already been auctioned in 2021, and this trend will continue in 2022 with Jim Taylor, Gene Ponder, Pierre Héron, Richard Romagny and the Guikas Collection, among others. And it looks set to continue in the same vein in 2023.
Mecum has announced the auction of Rick Grant III's collection for Kissimmee (Florida, USA, January 4 to 15, 2023). Grant had refined taste and owned around 50 special classics, including a 1965 AC Shelby 289 Cobra, a 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Cabriolet, a 1954 Arnolt-MG Drophead Coupé, a 1965 Aston Martin DB5, a 1959 BMW 507, a Bugatti Type 57 Binder Coupé from 1935, a Ferrari 275 GTB/4 from 1967, an Asa 1000 GT from 1967, several Jaguar XK 120/150s, a Maserati 3500 GTI Spyder from 1967, a Maserati Ghibli from 1967, a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster from 1961, a Porsche 718 RSK from 1959.
It was important to Grant that his cars were always ready to go and in working order; a standing museum was not his thing.
It is nice to see that in addition to the many super classics, he also looked after "normal" cars, such as an Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider from 1967, an MG TC from 1949 or an Amphicar 770 from 1967.
Now the cars of the late Rick Grant will find new owners, anyone interested can find out more at Mecum.
