Big price increase for the smallest children

While a 1/43rd scale Lotus Elan from "Corgi Toys" was still available for 5.50 francs in the 1960s, the "Solido" models in the 1980s cost almost twice as much at 10.50 francs. However, the level of detail was certainly twice as good. Today, you have to fork out over 70 francs for a Formula 1 racer from "Minichamps". If you go to "CMC" in the top class of 1:18 models, you can quickly pay over 300 francs, but their attention to detail is simply sensational. At the Techno-Classica, you could admire the streamlined Mercedes-Benz W196 Grand Prix car from "Amalgam" on a scale of 1:8 for a whopping 12,465.03 euros and couldn't shake the feeling that you could start its engine on the spot.
Of course it's great to have a display case full of your favorites, preferably in 1:18 scale of course, but if you count all the Formula 1 world champion cars of the past 72 years at 300 francs each, you end up with a hefty sum of 21,600 francs. And let's not even talk about the space required. Two Amalgam models for the same price would be much more space-saving.
