Birthday party with twelve guests

No, this is not a diorama by a talented model maker and enthusiastic model car collector. The collection of twelve Porsche 956s and 962s in various famous liveries lined up here in their garages on the Goodwood Motor Circuit is life-size and ready to drive. To mark the 40th anniversary of Group C, the dozen cars were allowed to do their laps around the traditional race track in the light of the setting sun. The pre-dawn headlights in the twilight and the sound of the six-cylinder engines provided a touch of Le Mans in West Sussex.
The show run on Saturday evening was, of course, only a small part of this year's 79th Goodwood Members' Meeting. We will of course be publishing a report on the whole event later this week.
