Dates that we have made a note of for 2025

Of course, this is a very subjective compilation of some of the dates that we in the Zwischengas team have made a note of for the new year - based on our personal interests and areas of expertise. It also includes some rather unknown or even one-off events. This list is therefore undoubtedly not complete. And of course the "classics" such as the Bremen Classic Motorshow, the Rétromobile in Paris, the Retro Classics in Stuttgart or the Belmot Oldtimer Grand Prix are among the highlights of the year that we also like to attend.
However, we don't want to deprive our readers of some very special events in 2025, as they include two or three discoveries that we were also able to make palatable to each other within the editorial team. Few people from Switzerland, for example, are likely to have ever set off for the beaches of the Danish island of Rømø with their hot rod race. Or did you know that the biggest party to celebrate 75 years of the VW Bulli is organized by Austrians?
So here you go! Here it is, the unofficial list of our hottest candidates in the 2025 event calendar as of the end of 2024:
Techno Classica in Essen on the second weekend in April is actually very well known, but will be special in 2025; we want to really enjoy the last Techno Classica in the old style before it continues in Essen in 2026 with a new organizer and a different concept. And perhaps we will then also find out how and whether Techno Classica itself will continue in 2026.
April 10 to 13: Techno Classica Essen
Every year, the 11th Duke of Richmond has thousands of flower bulbs nurtured so that the daffodils will sprout when the Goodwood Members Meeting takes place again in spring. However, it has already snowed that weekend. If the fun is too far for you, if you are not a member or otherwise unable to attend, we recommend the livestream.
April 12 and 13: 82nd Goodwood Members Meeting
The Austrian VW Commercial Vehicles branch is celebrating the 75th production anniversary of the Bulli - the VW Type 2 was launched in small numbers on a side line at the Wolfsburg plant in March 1950 - at the Salzburgring in mid-May. Thousands of VW Transporters of all vintages are expected.
May 16 to 18: 75 years of VW Bulli, meeting at the Salzburgring
We particularly like the Fuoriconcorso on Lake Como, because everything is a little lighter, more accessible and fresher there. In 2025, the event will take place at the Villas del Grumello, Villa Sucota and - following their restoration - Villa Olmo. It is certainly no coincidence that this will take place at the same time as the Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este.
23 to 25 May: Fuoriconcorso Cernobbio
American lifestyle, rock'n'roll and big cars: the "Musikbox und Strassenkreuzer Festival" in Werl-Kaunitz is a colorful gathering of rockabillies and bellas, vintage fans and people who like it a little bigger and flashier than the usual classic car gatherings.
May 24 and 25: jukeboxes and street cruisers in Kaunitz
With over 1000 vendors, up to 6000 cars and around 20,000 visitors, the "Market in the North" is one of the biggest, most important events of its kind. The supporting program is also impressive, for example the "Friesland Rally" with 100 starters on Sunday.
June 13 to 15: Bockhorn classic car market
The Le Mans Classic on the Sarthe is really, really big. This includes around 800 historic racing cars on the track - not all at the same time, nota bene - and over 8500 classic cars in their surroundings. The big party to celebrate the biggest car race in the world is a credit to Le Mans and belongs in the 2025 classic car calendar.
July 3 to 6: Le Mans Classic
Anyone wondering where all the sand is washed up that Sylt tries so hard to prevent from leaving the island should take a closer look at the beaches on the neighboring island of Rømø... not only is the sandy beach huge here, it's also great for driving. For wild lads and intrepid ladies, there is the Rømø Motor Festival Beach Race for cars and motorcycles that reflect the American hot rod and dirt track culture of the 1920s to 1940s. It goes without saying that the corresponding outfits are also welcomed by the public, making the event all the more appealing.
August 16-18: Rømø Motor Festival Beach Race Denmark
The largest Swiss VW meeting for rear-engined models attracts over 1000 vehicles to the Pays d'Enhaut between Gstaad and Bulle every other year. Organized with the charm of French-speaking Switzerland and a constant, unmistakable wink, the meeting on the language border between German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland is a highlight for friends of the Beetle, Bulli, Type 3 and co.
22 to 24 August: VW Meeting Château d'Oeux
The term has become a household word. In the Websters Dictionary, "Autojumble" is listed as a generally valid English term for "parts market". That's saying something and the huge market in the front garden of the Montagu family in Beaulieu is indeed a must for all those who are still looking for that special part for their classic British car. Or you can simply stroll between the stands in amazement and admire the British way of dealing with the subject of "classic vehicles". There is no substitute!
September 6-7: Beaulieu Autojumble
The largest gathering of British cars in Switzerland is just as quintessentially British, but with a charming touch of Francophone lifestyle. The small, medieval town on Lake Geneva could not be a better backdrop for everything that has ever been put on wheels on the island and is more than 30 years old. There are even said to be Brits who make a special trip to this British Car Meeting.
October 4: British Classic Car Meeting St. Prex
One of the largest and most important trade fairs south of the Alps is the Auto e Moto d'Epoca in Bologna. The fact that certain things are handled a little differently in Italy than in German-speaking countries is what makes this event so special. Probably the last time in Bologna, the trip across the Alps will definitely be worthwhile in October 2025.
