Immersive and iconic
12/22/2024
First of all, it should be noted that this article does not actually have anything to do with the exhibition from which we borrowed the image, but we are happy to mention it nonetheless. At the "Drive. Volkswagen Group Forum" in Berlin is showing the exhibition "Iconic " until March 31, 2025. And it apparently offers an immersive spatial experience.
"Immersive" seems to be one of the buzzwords of 2024, you read it everywhere, even serious daily newspapers use the term. According to Wikipedia, "immersion" is mainly used in the context of "virtual reality" and describes immersion in an environment with a high level of interaction.
Well, from this perspective, we believe that our Zwischengas platform is also "immersive", as it allows you to immerse yourself in the history of the classic automobile. And it's interactive too, of course.
But there is also the word "iconic", which has actually made it into the dictionary. It probably goes back to the English word "iconic", the Duden explains the meaning as "in the manner of icons" or "pictorial, vivid".
This word, which we always avoid as far as possible, is also used in a truly inflationary way today. We read about the iconic Jaguar E-Type or the iconic Porsche 917. PR agencies and copywriters in particular like to use "iconic" a lot. It ennobles even the most mundane object into a cult object.
Of course, you can read a lot about icons of automotive history on Zwischengas, and of course Jaguar E-Type, Ferrari 250 GTO, the 300 SL Gullwing or various Porsche models are among them.
We only wrote this blog to poke a little fun at the two "i" words under the same title. And of course we expect the big world of the Internet to share and read this post "like crazy". Otherwise we would have to lose faith in these great word formations again ...
