Four years of Zwischengas - Olympic dimensions
11/22/2014
Exactly four years ago, on November 22, 2010, www.zwischengas.com entered the public beta phase, which is the name given to the launch of a new application that is ready but not yet fully proven. Strictly speaking, 30 or 40 years ago most new car model launches would probably have been described as a beta phase, but that's just an aside.
Four years is an Olympic distance, namely the interval between two Olympic Games. And with our current age of four years, we have already beaten many a car magazine that has not managed such a long publication period. In Internet circles, four years old is already considered a very old age.
Of course, there were also doubters who thought zwischengas.com was a flash in the pan in 2010 and expected it to disappear quickly. But instead of slowing down and becoming more leisurely, we have continued to grow over the years, stepping on the gas, so to speak. In these four years, we have published well over 1,000 reports and around 1,600 blog posts. In 2014 alone, we reported on around 50 events and almost 150 vehicles. And much more. And in contrast to alternative offerings in printed form, our posts can be viewed at any time, even the earliest ones that we have written.
As proof, here is an excerpt from our second newsletter from November 29, 2010, which advertised the new articles published during the first week:
"The report on the Ennstal Classic 2010 summarizes the experiences at this year's successful event in pictures (134 images) and in text skillfully written by Thomas Suter.
Bernhard Brägger undertook an extraordinary journey in his 1936 Alvis Special when he drove the wild passes around Lake Garda .
The coverage of the inauguration of the Wall of Fame of Swiss motor racing at Autobau in Romanshorn should also make the hearts of many fans of historic motor racing beat faster, as the celebrated legends range from the Dufaux brothers, Jo Siffert and Clay Regazzoni to Sébastian Buemi and Simona De Silvestro.
A good example of what we have set out to do is the article on the Mini Cooper. It not only picks up the best articles from the newspaper archive, but also provides an insight into the marketing activities of the time with the original brochure from 1964.
In the Insights/Opinions/Blog section, you will find exciting experiences of a test driver with the Dino 246 GT or a reference to the restoration of a Jaguar SS 100 in 1957. In general, it is worth taking a frequent look at Insights/Opinions/Blog, where various authors will be contributing their insights and opinions in the future."
Since then, we have sent out 208 more newsletters, missing our self-imposed deadline of 06:20 on Tuesday only twice, once due to hardware problems and once because the email service provider failed to work.
In any case, we are ready for the next four years and hope that our readers will remain loyal to us!
