I wish I had bid ...
11/30/2014
If you look through the results of auctions, such as the one held by Toffen on November 29or Auctionata on November 28, you will always notice an offer that would have appealed to you. Perhaps the final price achieved is also at a favorable level. Of course, you can't help but think: Oh, I wish I had bid and bought this car so cheaply ...
In thinking this way, you forget two points. Firstly, it is not certain whether you would have had the nerve to place a bid at the right time on the spot (or on the phone or on the computer).
Secondly, a bid would of course have changed the course of the auction. This is somewhat reminiscent of the time travel paradox. If you change the course of history retroactively, life changes afterwards. For example, another bid might have increased the price not just by one, but perhaps by several steps, because the other buyer might have followed suit. And in the end, the bargain might no longer have been a bargain.
But all the "what if ..." considerations don't get you anywhere ... and the opportunity is lost anyway. See you next time.
