It can be a little more - increasing the performance of classic cars
11/11/2014
The gap between old and modern cars is widening in terms of performance. Whereas 20 or 30 kg per hp used to be sufficient, today's vehicles have a power-to-weight ratio of 10 kg per hp or better. This can quickly make you feel underpowered in a classic car, and the desire for more power arises.
Around 70% of Zwischengas readers who took part in the question of the week "Increasing the performance of classic cars" thought that there was nothing wrong with this.
However, the majority (57%) of these optimization advocates claim that the engine must remain visually unchanged and some would go even further and demand that the performance increase must be feasible with parts and materials available at the time.
However, 13% do not see this so narrowly, they believe that you can never have enough power and that it is therefore permissible to improve what is possible.
The 29% who focus on originality represent the complete opposite side. For them, tuning and performance enhancement are out of the question.
