MidGie, Spiderman and Sebastian Vettel
11/14/2014
In Asia, there is an insect called MidGie, which is almost pronounced like MG. This little creepy-crawly inspired Dr. Ivor from Singapore to design his own radiator grille on his 1930 MG M-Type , which he has owned for 35 years. It is not a very exclusive vehicle, but it is very, very original, he says proudly. Dr. Ivor has already owned various MG sports cars, such as a J2, a Y-Tourer and a TF. To date, only two remain, the M-Type and a TA Tickford.
He talks in Asian English about the MG Club with around 400 members from Singapore and Malaysia. In total, a good 2000 classic cars are housed in the two Asian countries.
Dr. Ivor is certainly no stranger to the scene, as he himself was instrumental in organizing the famous "Louis Vuitton Vintage Equator Run" in 1993 and the "LV China Run" in 1998.
Not only MidGies, but also spiders get lost in the cars of this cosmopolitan city. There is a killer spider in the Alfa Spider under the headlight cover. As I'm about to take a photo of it, the owner starts the engine and is as happy as a little boy to see "Spidernan" wiggling from the 3 vehicle vibrations.
And by the way, Sebastian Vettel also had the pleasure of a ride in the MidGie-MG ...
