Why do the girls have to disappear?

Out of sheer fear of putting their foot in their mouth, fewer and fewer models are being hired to be seen dressed appropriately on the cars and, of course, to be photographed. In Paris at the "Retromobile", there was not a single lady accompanying a car, and in Essen at the "Techno Classica" there were only three.
"All my nightmares have to do with cars," confessed Sandrine Salerno, former SP politician and ex-mayor of Geneva, at the opening of the motor show. The fact that she doesn't have much to do with cars is one thing. But she seems to have even less of a thing for pretty women. In an interview with the newspaper Le Matin, she said: "I don't understand this myth about hostesses who are supposed to attract customers. Either you're thinking in sexist categories here, or you're insulting people who are interested in cars." The mother of two even goes one better: "They must be Neanderthals who need body flesh to be interested in a car."
Is that the case? Do I really have to apologize for this image that I adopted at Techno Classica? In my eyes, there is still a small difference between "body meat" and a lady dressed to match a car.
