Where does that come from?

It is not always immediately obvious when a small series manufacturer uses parts for a car that come from the large series. The Ford Cortina tail light (pictured) was particularly popular with British small-series manufacturers and can be found on the TVR Grantura and the TVR Griffith 200, among others.
The production of rear lights for small series was just as unprofitable as the manufacture of specific front or rear windows. For this reason, large series parts were often used, even if this had a serious impact on the design. The story goes that TVR boss Peter Wheeler and his designer used to sit down on the highway to spot suitable parts on passing cars. This is probably how they came across the rear light of the Ford Fiesta for the TVR Chimaera.
We have now turned the game around and, at the request of a reader, created a car connoisseur quiz in which the aim is to identify the "donor" of the add-on part based on a vehicle. Creating the quiz was not that easy and we were thankfully able to call on the active help of some specialists and experts. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them!
Now you can prove your car knowledge by naming the vehicle that supplied the parts for the car pictured. Click here for the car connoisseur quiz .
