2550 Fiat Dino 2400 Coupés were built between 1969 and 1973, captivating with a V6 engine inspired by racing car technology and an elegant yet practical body with a tasteful interior. To get the maximum enjoyment out of his coupé, one owner invested in a complete restoration that took two years and left hardly a part untouched. It takes work, effort and worry to turn a third-class used car into a first-class jewel, especially if it is a Fiat Dino for which spare parts were rare and factory rust prevention was of secondary importance. In order to homologate a competitive engine for Formula 2, Ferrari had to be able to prove that it had built 500 engines in the mid-sixties. This was too much for the small luxury manufacturer, so it teamed up with Fiat, which was definitely interested in a prestigious engine. While Ferrari then developed the Dino 206 GT (and later the 246 GT) with a centrally mounted V6, Fiat designed a coupé and a spider with the engine at the front.
