A look into the future 60 years ago (new car connoisseur quiz)
Today, distance radar is almost a standard feature in luxury cars and is often chosen as an accessory for cheaper cars.
However, such a device was already installed in a car in the 1950s, in the experimental vehicle pictured above. The cone-shaped noses were fitted with "radar flushing units", which were intended to electronically alert the driver to an approaching object. A warning signal sounded and a warning light illuminated. If the object continued to approach, the signals increased in strength.
Not all show cars had such innovative technologies, but some did. Nevertheless, most of these concept cars were forgotten again. To refresh the memories of our readers, we have tracked down some of the lesser-known show cars in our photo archive and compiled our 17th car connoisseur quiz in 2020. And that's why we're not revealing the name of the experimental vehicle pictured here. We still want you to guess it ...
