The word for Pentecost Sunday
06/01/2020
For decades, the "O-iO" (Oldtimer in Obwalden) event, a relaxed classic car event with over 500 cars of all classes, shapes and model years, has been held on the Whitsun weekend.
However, the coronavirus pandemic has also put a damper on the event. Canceled!
If the hotel had already been booked and colleagues didn't want to be deterred by the slowly subsiding corona wave, they could of course spend the two days individually in Sarnen with friends. Which some actually did.
The weather was fine, the cars were gleaming and there were plenty of parking spaces. Only the spectators were sorely lacking. Only a few strayed to Sarnen and admired the cars.
The corona protection rules were also observed, so the Cadillac wore a face mask and kept its distance.
The Volvo, on the other hand, lived the Swedish policy and was unflinchingly permissive.
It's a real shame about all the great events that have fallen victim to the coronavirus pandemic. We can only hope that everything will have returned to normal by Whitsun 2021.
