Not just beetles

The picture was taken in 1956 and shows a huge parking lot in Germany. And yes, the VW Beetle is omnipresent, but in the parking bays there are also many other makes to be seen, from Opel, Ford and some brands that have long since ceased to exist.
But the magazine "auto motor und sport" was not interested in showing the car population of Germany at the time, but rather in discussing the problem of the lack of parking spaces:
" One of four still finds a hole - in our picture, which shows the parking lot at the foot of the Stuttgart television tower. If the other three are vigilant, they will discover another gap, on the left in the bottom row. And this is an exemplary parking lot; in German cities, the parking problem is now taking on a form that requires an urgent solution. Parking bans and parking meters alone are not enough."
And little has actually changed to this day, has it?
P.S. We love old photos of parking lots? If our readers still have any in their albums, we'd be delighted to receive samples ...
