Photos from the past - parking lot of the Swiss Sample Fair in Basel in the 1930s
04/06/2016
You may remember: on March 1, we put out a call to our readers to look for old photos in their personal archives and send them to us, ideally with a little story to go with them.
We were very pleased with the submissions so far and hope to receive more! Thank you very much at this point.
From now on, we will be showing one of these reader photos here from time to time. We'll start with a photo we received from Alex Ott.
The photo shows a parking lot full of cars, but if you take a closer look, it's the parking lot of the Swiss Sample Fair in Basel. Unlike today, back then you could simply park your car right in front of the main entrance. Imagine that today. If you look at the vehicles, the photo was probably taken in the 1930s. From today's perspective, the apparent uniformity of the car bodies is surprising.
If you make any special observations in this photo, please do not hesitate to use the comment function or contact us if you have found something else in the photo album that should be published here.
