The word for last Sunday
It's hard to believe that 10 full years have actually passed since Schumi's last victory in Formula 1.
On October 1, 2006, Michael Schumacher, then in the 40th F1 Ferrari with the type designation 248F1, won his 91st Grand Prix and that was the end of a career that was more than rich in superlatives.
Michael's comeback for three years in a Mercedes (2010-12) brought him just one more podium finish, third place at the European GP in Valencia.
After 307 races with 91 victories, 68 pole positions, 77 fastest race laps, 155 podiums and 1566 world championship points, he hung up his helmet for good at the end of 2012.
It's not just this almost unbelievably long period of ten years that suddenly made me think last Sunday. Not just his last victory, no, his presence in general seems like yesterday.
More than two years have already passed since his tragic skiing accident. Time really does fly by.
After all, I've photographed all of Michael's F1 outings with my 540 F1 races since last Sunday, which is 233 more than Schumi.
Nico Rosberg was just six years old when Michael entered F1 with the Jordan at Spa in 1991 (read in detail in the " Zwischengas Annual Magazine 2016" ). And when his father Keke won the world championship title in Dijon in 1981 with a single race win, I was already at the race track with my camera. And last Sunday, his son Nico won his third race in a row in China after Australia and Bahrain, also scoring his sixth consecutive Grand Prix victory if you include the last races of 2015.
You shouldn't worry too much about the current period; on the contrary, you should feel good and be grateful, because nobody can take away everything you've been able to experience so far.
