How a Jaguar was built - 55 years ago in the factory
What was it actually like 55 years ago in the Jaguar factory , when the legendary straight-six engines were created there and used in beautiful Mark II saloons (or one of the first E-Types)?
A film (on YouTube, in English) takes us on a factory tour in 1961, where we can follow the entire production process on historical footage, right up to the fitting of the steering wheel, the installation of carpets and leather upholstery and the first test drive, which covered at least 30 miles. This was not enough, by the way, because after the "final tuning" the car was checked by another second test driver before the final polish followed.
At the end of the film, the visitor was even allowed to test drive an E-Type ... wonderful!
