The forgotten jubilarian
12/31/2013
As 2013 draws to a close, everyone is already looking ahead to the coming year 2014. Many cars with milestone birthdays have been celebrated and people are already getting ready for the big anniversaries of the following year. However, some cars of the past have not been able to shed the veil of oblivion, and we would like to mention one of these vehicles again here: the Fiat Regata, built from 1983 to 1990.
The Regata was an offshoot of the Fiat Ritmo, so it had front-wheel drive and a large trunk thanks to its notchback. Although there were never any Abarth versions of the Regata, there was a 100-S variant that even produced 101 hp.
In 1984, the estate was added, which was called the Regata Weekend and will probably not be celebrated on its 30th birthday.
A total of over 900,000 Regata variants were produced, which is another reason why the practical backpack Ritmo will probably never mature into an expensive classic.
Incidentally, the Fiat Regata shares its fate of being forgotten with the Ford Orion, the brother of the Ford Escort, which was built along similar lines, while its competitor, the VW Jetta, is still being built today in its sixth generation.
