Special Ford Mustang models that were never built
12/22/2013
Ford wants to continue the Mustang success story with the sixth generation that has just been unveiled. In fact, over the entire 50 (and more) years since the Mustang has been around, people in Dearborn have repeatedly thought about how to make more of the Mustang idea.
In 1976, for example, a sports station wagon (pictured above) took shape just as they were thinking about the third generation of the Mustang. Visually, it was based on the Mustang II, but with the station wagon rear it was intended to offer more usable space (picture above). However, this variant did not make it into series production.
The same happened to the four-door Ford Mustang, which the Ford designers had already designed before the official launch in 1963.
And the Shooting Brake, which took shape in the design studio in 1966, also had no chance of going into series production. A pity, really, as the sports estate would certainly have been practical.
