When we think of variable luggage compartment concepts, we imagine folding rear seat backrests and an estate rear end. In 1966, however, Ford went one step further. The Ford "Magic Cruiser" was a concept vehicle that could be converted from a hatchback coupé into a station wagon.
The rear was lowered electrically and the interior was also variable with a second and third bench seat.
The car was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April 1966, but the idea never materialized - to this day, such a car is still not for sale.
The pictures of the Magic Cruiser can of course also be found in the Zwischengas photo archive.
