It's not every day that you have the pleasure of being a guest in the clubhouse of a royal automobile club. Last week, however, I spent the night in the building of the Royal Automobile Club (of England, of course) in London. And of course I was delighted to see a real rarity in the not exactly huge lobby, a Packard Caribbean Convertible.
Incidentally, the car shown was a Packard Caribbean Convertible from 1953, which was built in small series by Mitchell-Bentley in Ionia (Michigan). 750 of these cars were sold for USD 5,210. The shape was designed by Richard Teague. For Americans at the time, the car looked European.
