In fact, the Mini was launched in 1959, back then as the Austin Seven. And in 1989, the Mini was already celebrating its 30th anniversary. It was still being produced as a new car.
In fact, production only ended in 2000!
The 30th birthday was celebrated with the special "Mini Thirty Edition" model and a look back at the early days of the Mini.
The press photo in which a horde of Minis formed the lettering "Mini 30" remains unforgotten (see above).
And, of course, the "inventor" Alec Issigonis was also commemorated.
