We are at Auto Zürich ... and there is a lot to see
11/07/2024
The Zwischengas/SwissClassics Revue stand at this year's Auto Zürich (November 7 to 10, 2024) has been set up.
A fantastic Fiat-Abarth 1000 Bialbero from 1961, which was once used by the Briggs Cunningham Racing Team, can be admired at our stand. The car was loaned to us by Lutziger Classic Cars.
The "Media Stage", during which some of the new releases from this year's Auto Zurich were shown to the press, including the MG Cybester, an electric sports car with electrically opening/closing scissor doors, the Lucid Air Grand Touring, the Alfa Romeo Junior and the Fiat Grande Panda, to name just a few examples, is already over.
Although these were all new cars, the past was certainly cited during the presentation, for example in the Fiat Grande Panda, where the original Panda was shown several times in the background.
The MG Cybester was compared with the MGB ...
... and the Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition quoted the early Jaguar E-Type in racing version.
However, the press people present became really enthusiastic at the very end, when two Ferrari 296 GTB/GTS drove in.
Peter Schetty, the former Ferrari works driver and team boss, climbed out of one of the two one-offs, while Arturo Merzario, winner of the Targa Florio in a Ferrari 312 P among other events, climbed out of the other.
It was no coincidence that the two seniors appeared on stage, as the two Ferrari one-offs were realized by Niki Hasler AG in collaboration with the two racing legends and their design is intended to be reminiscent of their works cars from back then.
Over the next four days, the two Ferraris, around 100 classic cars as well as handcrafted vehicles from Bertone, Pininfarina, Singer, Rimac, Pagani and others can of course be viewed at Auto Zürich, as can all the new cars from 70 car manufacturers, which traditionally make up the main part of the exhibition.
A visit to Auto Zürich is therefore worthwhile, regardless of whether you are interested in old or new cars. We will of course be reporting on this in more detail.
