When technology could still be shown in an understandable way

During my visit to the Lucid stand at Auto Zurich , I noticed that this manufacturer was one of the few that tried to show the technology that goes into these advanced cars.
But neither the drive unit ...
... nor battery ...
... or the "wonder box" seemed interesting or inspiring to me. After all, you could hardly see anything.
So I looked back exactly 55 years and saw what technology was on show at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1969 .
In addition to the front end of the Saab 99 (above), there was, for example, the drivetrain of the Renault 16 TA (with automatic transmission).
Mercedes-Benz showed the shift gate housing of the DB automatic transmission.
Borg-Warner presented an automatic transmission with hydraulic torque converter.
And at Triumph, visitors were able to take a closer look at the fuel-injected TR6 engine.
As an interested observer, you could really see a lot about all these technology components, understand how they work and deduce the effects on the automobile.
Not everything was necessarily better in the past, but in this case it kind of was, wasn't it?
