Seat as an alternative to the Polo Harlequin?
08/02/2022
The VW Polo Harlequin stood out like a colorful dog, partly because it was, after all, a really colorful Polo III. Only 20 vehicles were supposed to be built, but customers really wanted the colorful Polo and so 3100 were actually produced.
The Seat company also advertised with a colorful car (see picture above). However, the Seat Marbella Colors was not intended to be sold in several colors, but the promotion was simply intended to publicize the various beautiful ("cheeky") paint finishes "black", "white", "red", "blue" and "green".
Otherwise, it was the almost completely normal Fiat Panda, made by Seat, which differed from the other model variants with special square stickers on the rear flanks and on the hood. But of course it was not multi-colored and a Harlequin replacement. However, it only cost DM 10,960 with 903 cm3 and 40 hp, including five-speed gearbox, one-key system, comfortable seats and Volkswagen quality seal! That's right, Seat was already part of the Volkswagen Group at the time, but was still drawing on the Fiat inheritance ...
It should perhaps also be mentioned that the Harlequin only appeared after the Marbella Colors. And, of course, we also want to add the advertising message of the time.
