You can always learn something new - a look back at the "zwischengas" driver training course
A few days ago, some "zwischengas" readers met up at the "Joe Wyss Driving Event" at Interlaken airfield for active driving training with their classic and vintage cars.
The second or even third car is normally only driven sporadically, but you have to be aware that even a few kilometers of driving do not protect you from critical traffic situations.
Brakes, suspension and steering do not react in quite the same way as in an everyday car, and ABS or EPS only came into cars much later. So it's not entirely absurd to think about the limits of such a car.
What happens if I suddenly have to swerve out of the way of a child? You don't necessarily want to end the evasive maneuver by destroying the car, after all, you're still sitting in it yourself.
What if the bend gets tighter than expected and the car's suspension reaches its limits? Here, too, it's good to know how to correct without cold deformation.
Of course, it's also great fun to drive an old sports car in a really sporty manner without any danger.
From the outside, it was interesting to see how neutral an MG B is on the road, or how swiftly a Mercedes limousine can be driven.
The participants were very enthusiastic about their newly acquired driving experience and clearly had a lot of fun "driving safely and sportily at the limit".
For all those who missed the date or forgot, there will be another opportunity to improve vehicle control next year.
