Not only classic cars and old racing cars suffer from technical problems and signs of ageing
08/07/2013
This is roughly how it looked at Zwischengas yesterday, at least in a figurative, virtual sense. A central component of our computer hardware infrastructure unexpectedly gave up the ghost. You could almost call it engine damage, it stopped humming from one moment to the next.
Although we were prepared for such a mishap, the conversion work took much longer than expected due to the worldwide delays in the distribution of Internet addresses (IP addresses), so that many of our readers were faced with a blank page or received a "Server not available" message. We are very sorry for this! We formally apologize for the interruption, which was the first major outage since November 2010.
Due to the hardware failure, we had decided to delay the newsletter by one day so that for once it would reach our readers on Wednesday and not Tuesday. We also apologize for this.
And we hope you enjoy reading and surfing on Zwischengas, because thanks to yesterday's adjustments we have become noticeably faster. The car in the picture above has - virtually speaking - now got the racing engine from the 908/3 instead of the six-cylinder engine.
