The buggy is here - summer can come!
05/11/2017
We are allowed to drive buggies! We are very happy. Since our ride in the Formula V (coincidentally also descended from the Beetle), hardly anything with such a manageable number of little horses has given us so much fun.
In the Apal Buggy we are allowed to do everything ourselves, e.g. reset the indicators or park on sight. It also doesn't prevent us from leaning out when reversing. It also doesn't switch off the engine when we drive with the door open. Which is hardly surprising, as it has no doors. And at red lights, it doesn't just shut down, but continues to purr away with its unmistakable boxer sound if desired.
We are still looking for the big sandy beach, but even on asphalt, the wonderfully open car reminds us more of the Formula V than of the Beetle that gave it its platform. This is certainly also due to the view to the front and the low seating position. And the formidable drop center rims with impressive rear tires ...
For some people, it might almost look a little over-restored, some will be bothered by the accessories, but we like it just the way it is. Of course, we have lots of plans for the green plastic car.
Among other things, we will bring the Apal Buggy to the "Fantastic Plastic" plastic car meeting on June 3, 2017, where the buggies will be specially honored. But before that, we'll be taking it to the Dolder Classic this weekend, weather permitting.
We actually didn't want to get out of the car yesterday, but typing on the computer doesn't work so well behind the wheel ....
