The Méhari-Rodeo from DAF
06/14/2016
There are leisure vehicles not only from Renault and Citroën, but also from DAF. However, the DAF YA 66 was created for use in the military. However, it was probably not really suitable for hard use due to the lack of four-wheel drive, which is why only 1201 units were produced in two years. They were all equipped with a Renault four-cylinder engine with around 53 hp from 1108 cm3 and the power was - naturally - transmitted via a Variomatic.
The body had the character of a pickup, the doors were missing and after removing the plastic tarpaulin you had a convertible. Similar to the Citroën Méhari or the Renault Rodeo.
After their use in military service, the cars could be bought by civilians in the 1990s and so such cars kept coming onto the market, for example the example pictured above (XR-42-GP) at the online auction house Catawiki. The estimated price is given as EUR 4750 to 6250, but the bids are currently (still) significantly lower.
