Who buys a tool bag for over 14,000 euros?
If you want to win a prize at the Concours, make sure your vehicle is complete. The original tool set in the bag supplied at the time is also part of the noble classic. As these standard accessories tend to get lost or are often missing parts, there is a lively demand for them.
And apparently, when one of the rare tool sets of a super classic comes under the hammer, exorbitant prices are offered.
The buyer of a Ferrari Daytona tool bag and its contents paid £12,000 at the Silverstone auction on May 13, 2017! That was the equivalent of EUR 14,103 or CHF 15,425! You could have bought a first-generation Porsche 928 from 1979 or a well-preserved Beach Buggy GP Mk 1 from 1966 at the same auction for that, and you would even have gotten change.
After all, the tool set was in very good condition and had the right keys. According to the description, it is said to come from a particularly rare Plexi model of the 365 GTB/4.
Perhaps it will soon be seen again at a Concours d'Elégance, together with the Daytona.
