Gody Naef at the GP Mutschellen
04/30/2012
Among the participants in the GP Mutschellen on April 29, 2012 was a certain Gody Naef. At 92 years old, he was older than the not exactly youthful vintage car that he chased up the slope. His racing car was a 1926 Amilcar CG SS.
The senior personally looked after the pre-war racer and gave it a good drink of water before the start. He commented: "The temperature always rises to over 100 degrees, so I have to take it easy on the intermediate straight and can only really thrash the car around in the bends".
Gody Naef is no stranger to the Swiss racing scene, having raced in the 1951 Albis race, for example. And in the 1960s, he drove the fastest racing cars on the mountain and on circuits.
Should we still be as fit as Gody Naef in 20, 40 or even 50 years' time (depending on our starting position) and be able to handle a classic car younger than ourselves so well, then we can count ourselves lucky!
