A rare find - Wolseley 15/60 at the airfield
04/12/2012
Color press photos were a rarity in the 1950s, and why should they be? The trade magazines and newspapers were practically all printed in black and white, with only the occasional cover page in color. So it is all the more pleasing to see color pictures of bygone days in the archive, in this case of a Wolsely 15/60 from 1959, attractively staged on an airfield with a lady.
The Wolseley 15/60 was also something special in other respects, as it was the first vehicle that the British Motor Corporation had designed by Pinin Farina. Based on this design, other BMC vehicles were also built alongside the Wolseley, including the Austin A55 Cambridge Mark II and the Morris Oxford V, as well as the Riley 4/68 and the MG Magnette Mark III. The Wolseley 15/60 was powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produced just 52 hp.
The interior was fitted with leather seats and the dashboard and door interiors were made of wood. The buyer could choose between a single or two-tone paint finish.
This saloon was a good 123 km/h fast, and with just over one liter of fuel consumption per 100 km, it was also relatively economical.
Of course, we have stored the pictures in the Zwischengas archive so that our users can also enjoy them in high resolution.
