Back then it was still possible: jostling in the test report

Only after the third flash of the headlights does the idiot in the car in front clear the left lane - and then, of course, does not allow himself to be overtaken without hesitation, but steps boldly on the accelerator as soon as you are level with him. And of course, as a good driver should, you don't hold back, but keep up to 175 km/h.
This was actually printed in 1978. And not as a bad example of traffic etiquette, but as a serious introduction to a serious car test. The test object: the new Renault 5 Alpine, whose 93 hp and top speed of just under 180 km/h were once an excellent way to annoy many an expensive southern German product on the highway. And the Dauertest editor, together with his colleagues, did this extensively, which surprisingly was not worth an indignant letter from the readership.
A few months ago, a German sports car magazine in Stuttgart received a letter showing just how much times have changed: they had the audacity to drive the Porsche 911 Turbo from the 993 model series at full speed on a late-night highway after 25 years - and were promptly perceived as outmoded and irresponsible speeders. Judging by the text, the editor had not tailgated once.
