Summary
The Alfa Romeo Alfasud ti was one of the most popular sporty compact saloons of the 1970s. As a direct competitor to the Renault R5 Alpine and VW Golf GTI, it impressed customers with its spaciousness, its rev-happy engine and its excellent chassis. Only a few examples have survived the decades, which makes the encounter with an unwelded example from 1979 with just under 32,000 km on the clock all the more extraordinary. This report shows the "time machine" in many pictures and describes the special features of the model, supplemented with sales literature and audio examples.

There it is in front of us, an Alfa Romeo Alfasud Ti as it was 35 years ago, with just under 32,000 km on the clock, a sprightly and almost as good as new second-hand car. How is this possible? Was time travel invented after all? Is this Alfasud the incarnation of the time machine that Robert Zemeckis visualized in the film "Back to the Future" in the form of a DeLorean? Somewhere in the cockpit there would probably be a setting instrument on which November 2014 was typed in when the car left the year 1979 ... When was the last time you, dear reader, saw a white Alfa Romeo Alfasud ti? In the seventies, a German car magazine ordered an Alfasud test car in exactly this color so that rust could be detected more quickly. Rust, that insidious combination of iron oxides and water, was actually the Alfasud's worst enemy, because conceptually the car was far superior to the competition when it was first presented to the public in 1971.
