The illustrated safety study was created in 1973. The production model, which was very similar to the study, was called the Peugeot 305 and was presented in November 1977, four years later.
Knowing this, the similarity is quite understandable. On its own, however, one could have imagined that the prototype would later have become a Renault, an Audi or even a Mercedes-Benz.
What is also striking, however, is the realization that the later lines of the Peugeot 305 were already pretty much fixed four years earlier.
