Classic car Pagani
07/06/2022
Admittedly, the title is a bit of an exaggeration. There is no such thing as a Pagani sports car that is already 30 years old. However, the company that Horacio Pagani himself founded, and which became the basis for his sports cars, so to speak, is already over 30 years old.
In 1988, "Pagani Composite Research" was registered as a company and four years later, in 1992 (30 years ago), Horacio Pagani began building a sports car that was to bear his own name. However, it was not until 1999 that the car was presented to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show as the Pagani Zonda C12. Originally, the mid-engined sports car was to be called the Fangio F1, but the famous racing driver had died in 1995 and it seemed irreverent to use his name.
In 1999, you could read about this new super sports car for the first time in " auto motor und sport" or in Automobil Revue . And you could also find out more about the enthusiast and visionary behind it. It is worth looking back.
Pagani achieved something that many sports car manufacturers failed to do. He stayed in business. He built 140 Zondas until 2019, followed by the Huayra, the first drawings of which have just been presented in a breathtaking-looking long-tail version.
The Pagani Zonda may not yet be a classic car, but it is already a youngtimer and if a reader wanted to provide us with an (early) car for photos and a driving report, we would immediately get in the car and drive off ...
