Fast stamp - 100 years of the Avus
10/07/2021
A few days ago we reported on the "100 Years of the Avus " exhibition at the P.S. Speicher , and now we have come across a new Deutsche Post stamp on the same subject.
The stamp shows the start of the Berlin Grand Prix in 1958, with Jean Behra on the left, who will eventually win the race in a Porsche 718 RSK. To the right is Jo Bonnier in the aerodynamically optimized Borgward Hansa 1500 S, which will finish second, while the Maserati and Ferrari starting further back will not be able to compete for the top places. Interestingly, there will also be single-seaters at the start.
Incidentally, the photo was taken by Fred Taylor. In Germany, the "wet-adhesive" stamp is suitable for franking large letters up to 500 g and can be purchased directly online in sheets of 10 .
It's great that Deutsche Post is also commemorating the legendary race track!
